A fully handmade white jade Bai Yu Duan Ni teapot with delicate flower clay painting. The graceful ‘Duo Qiu’ shape, and the 7-hole filter ensures a smooth pouring experience.

The Duo Qiu shape: “Duo” means to pick up and connect, while “Qiu” means balls/spheres in Chinese. Its semi-spherical lid connects the spherical body of the teapot, while the spout and handle capture the arc of a sphere, giving it a flowing, curved appearance that makes it a delight on any tea table.

The flowers on this Duo Qiu teapot is hand-painted using various Yixing clay pigments paste, and finished with carving tools to add intricate details. It is a process that requires a great deal of skill and absolute dedication.

The teapot is made from white jade Duan Ni clay, also known as “Bai Yu Duan”, is named after its off-white colour. As a rare type of Duan Ni clay, Bai Yu Duan is more breathable and granular than regular Duan Ni. Teapots made from Bai Yu Duan help to enhance the aroma and flavour of the tea.
