The texture is silky, creamy, and full-bodied, with a sweet flavor that captures the essence of a lush stone fruit garden. Its bright aromatics shine as clearly as a full moon on a cloudless night.

Curating the best material for our very first aged white tea cake under the Teasenz label wasn’t easy. Thus, we’re proud to introduce ‘Moon Garden’: an aged white tea cake which we believe excels in taste, complexity, quality, and aging potential.

The label concept is inspired by classic Chinese ‘Bird & Flower Paintings’ (花鸟图) featuring elements and colors that represent the aroma of this tea cake. The wrapper is drawn by our artist Suyi in Chinese water-painting style (水墨画). It’s so beautiful, it might just belong in a frame on your wall.

Enjoy this beautifully looking white tea cake consisting of fatty buds from the Yunnan ‘Da Ye Zhong’ cultivar. This silver needle cake brews a yellow liquor with a soft taste and refreshing aroma. Everything you can expect from a top grade white tea.

Different from loose leaves, the raw material of this cake is first steamed soft and afterwards compressed. When stored, the leaves will slowly improve further in taste, acquiring an amazing flavor in 3 years, and reaching its full potential in about 7 years.

How To Prepare an Aged Silver Needle Tea Cake?

As for any tea cake, the best is to pry of a chunk using a tea knife. If you don’t have one, you may visit the tea accessories page to get one at an affordable price. Because this silver needle cake is fairly loosely compressed, it’s may also possible to simply use your hand to loosen up some outer leaves of the cake.

Luckily for most aged whites, including this cake, it’s hard for the preparation to go wrong, as these are fairly forgiving teas. We recommend to start out with a 90 ºC (195 ºF) temperature, but you may adjust it according to your taste.

The actual steeping time will depend on the tea-to-leaf ratio, which you apply, and the teaware you use. A good indication is the tea colour: When it turns light yellow, it means it’s ready to drink. Don’t worry, aged white teas are hard to oversteep!
